Activate Factory Unlock by restoring via iTunes

* How to complete Unlock with active SIM card from any GSM Carrier (AT&T, T-Mobile, Telus, Telcel, etc.):

1) Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed. Make sure there is an active GSM SIM card inserted in phone.
2) Open iTunes on your MAC or PC and verify that you have Internet Connectivity.
3) Connect your iPhone to iTunes by USB cable.
4) Back up your iPhone. How to back up:
5) Complete the setup assistant and restore your backup
6) After the process has finished, disconnect your iPhone, wait 10 seconds, reconnect to iTunes. Your iPhone is now fully unlocked.

This is the most effective way to complete the unlock, but if you have trouble completing the steps above, try the steps below

Activate Factory Unlock without restoring iPhone via iTunes

* You can try activating your unlock without restoring. Follow these steps:

1) Insert any GSM SIM card that is not from AT&T (like T-Mobile) into your iPhone.
2) Open iTunes on your computer (make sure it is up to date).
3) Connect your iPhone to iTunes and wait for an error or failure message to appear.
4) Disconnect your iPhone and wait 10 seconds, then reconnect it to iTunes again.
5) iTunes should display a "Congratulations, your iPhone is now unlocked" message.
6) At times, this message does not appear, but iTunes still unlocks it.
7) The best thing to do to test the unlock is to see if the iPhone gets signal with the Non-AT&T active SIM card you inserted.

Activate Factory Unlock directly on iPhone using WiFi

* If you can't activate the unlock through iTunes, you can do it directly through your iPhone (you need WiFi):

1) Make sure your iPhone's info is backed up in iTunes (photos, contacts, etc)
2) On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings.
3) Wait for your iPhone to erase and restart
4) Insert a GSM SIM card that is not from AT&T.
5) Your iPhone will send you to an activation screen, follow and complete the steps.
6) Your iPhone should activate and pick up signal from your SIM card (if it is an active SIM card).

iPhone 5 & 4S Owners

* If you have an iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 you can follow these easy steps to activate your unlock:

1) Insert any SIM card that is not from AT&T.
2) Your iPhone should send you to an activation screen once you insert the SIM card.
3) Follow the steps mentioned on your iPhone (you need internet from WiFi).
4) Once you complete the steps, your iPhone's unlock is activated and you should start receiving signal from your SIM card's carrier (if the SIM card is active).

Troubleshooting Tips

Restoring your iPhone in DFU mode (Full Restore)

1) Remove your SIM card from your iPhone.

2) Connect your iPhone to your computer, when iTunes opens, close it.

3) Keep your iPhone connected to your computer, and turn off your iPhone.

4) At the same time press and hold power button and home button for exactly 10 seconds, after 10 seconds release the power button, but continue holding the home button for another 10 seconds, after 10 seconds release the home button.

5) Your iPhone is now in DFU mode.

6) Open iTunes, and hit restore.

7) After it Restores, you will see on your iPhone saying "Please insert a SIM card for activation", insert a non-AT&T SIM card, and there you have it!
